Backend Developer (Laravel)

Location: Stockholm, Sweden (office/remote). Permanent location in the EU or Ukraine is required (we can only consider candidates legally based in the EU or Ukraine).

Join Söderberg & Partners Heartpace AB, a Swedish product company building innovative, reliable software for the European market. We’re looking for a Middle+ PHP Developer (Laravel) who enjoys moving fast, taking real ownership, and shipping production-ready solutions with high engineering standards.

This is not a “ticket factory” role. We want someone who can deliver outcomes, collaborate tightly with product and engineering, and help us automate processes with AI to increase speed and quality.

What we offer

  • Flexibility: work from our modern Stockholm office or fully remote.
  • Career growth: clear development paths, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
  • Modern tech stack: Laravel, AWS (S3, ECS, RDS), Docker, event-driven architecture, and more.
  • Professional development: we cover certifications, conferences, and access to Udemy courses to support your growth.
  • AI-first enablement: we actively automate workflows with AI — and we’ll compensate relevant AI subscriptions you need for your work.
  • Relocation support: visa sponsorship and relocation assistance for international candidates.
  • Work-life balance: no overtime culture and generous vacation policies.
  • Security matters: we are ISO 27001:2022 certified, meaning we take information security and operational discipline seriously.

What you’ll do

  • Build, optimize, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Laravel.
  • Deliver in short cycles: ship → measure → iterate, with a focus on business impact and reliability.
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL data stores (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB): schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Contribute to event-driven architecture using AWS services like SQS/SNS (and related patterns).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, QA, DevOps) to design and deliver customer-facing solutions.
  • Maintain high engineering standards through:
    • clean architecture and design patterns
    • code reviews and PSR compliance
    • automated testing (TDD/BDD where it fits)
    • observability and production readiness
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development workflows (e.g., faster implementation, test generation, documentation, debugging) while keeping quality and security intact.

We value

  • High performance / results-first: measurable impact over activity.
  • Entrepreneurial ownership: be the engine, not the passenger.
  • Data-driven decisions + systems thinking: build solutions that scale and stay maintainable.
  • Fast execution with integrity: speed and reliability.
  • Continuous improvement: skills, mindset, and outcomes.

You’ll thrive here if you…

  • Prefer short cycles: ship → measure → iterate.
  • Can turn ambiguity into execution (and ask the right questions when needed).
  • Care about outcomes over process theater.
  • Enjoy improving systems, not just delivering features.

What we’re looking for

  • 6+ years of software development experience with strong skills in PHP and Laravel.
  • Solid fundamentals: OOP, SOLID, DRY, common design patterns, and version control with Git.
  • Experience with AWS and cloud-native patterns (e.g., S3, ECS, RDS; bonus for CloudFront/Route53/EC2).
  • Strong database skills across SQL + NoSQL, including query optimization and performance mindset.
  • Comfortable in Docker-based environments and modern CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and attention to detail.
  • English: Upper-Intermediate+ for collaboration and documentation.
  • Language bonus:
    • Swedish is a strong plus (conversational/professional level or native).
    • Ukrainian/Russian is a plus for smoother communication with part of the team.
  • AI usage experience: practical experience using AI tools to accelerate development workflows (we’ll support and compensate relevant subscriptions).

Backend Developer / Integration Manager (Laravel)

Location: Stockholm, Sweden (office-based).

Join Söderberg & Partners Heartpace AB, a Swedish product company building innovative, reliable software for the European market. We’re looking for a hands-on Backend Developer / Integration Manager (Laravel) who can ship backend features and own integrations end-to-end — from architecture and delivery to client-facing technical leadership.

This is not a “support-only” integration role. We need someone who can build, solve, and own outcomes — moving fast with integrity, using data to make decisions, and leveraging AI to automate workflows and reduce operational overhead.

What we offer

  • Flexibility: Stockholm office-based role with a strong engineering culture and close collaboration.
  • Career growth: clear development paths, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
  • Modern tech stack: Laravel, AWS (S3, ECS, RDS, CloudFront, etc.), Docker, event-driven architecture, and more.
  • Professional development: we cover certifications, conferences, and access to Udemy courses to support your growth.
  • AI-first enablement: we actively automate workflows with AI — and we’ll compensate relevant AI subscriptions you need for your work.
  • Work-life balance: no overtime culture and generous vacation policies.
  • Security matters: we are ISO 27001:2022 certified, meaning we take information security and operational discipline seriously.

What you’ll do

You’ll play a dual role: developing backend capabilities and leading integration projects that connect Heartpace with third-party systems and client platforms.

Core backend development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Laravel.
  • Deliver in short cycles: ship → measure → iterate, balancing speed with reliability.
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch): data modeling, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Build event-driven systems using AWS services (SQS, SNS) and related patterns.
  • Implement and maintain Dockerized services on AWS infrastructure (EC2, ECS, S3, CloudFront, etc.).
  • Maintain high engineering standards through clean code practices (SOLID, DRY, OOP, PSR), code reviews, and unit/integration tests (TDD/BDD where it fits).
  • Contribute to scalability, performance, and security improvements across services and integrations.

Integration ownership & delivery

  • Integration management: design and maintain robust, secure, scalable integrations with external platforms; own incident response, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization.
  • Client communication & support: act as technical point of contact for integration clients; clarify requirements, propose solutions, and provide clear updates.
  • Collaboration with Product & Delivery: align integrations with product vision; share feedback, technical constraints, and opportunities proactively.
  • Documentation ownership: maintain high-quality integration documentation (Notion): business cases, architecture diagrams, data models, flows, setup guides, UI descriptions — updated with every change.
  • Architecture development: design integration architecture and schemas, monitor performance, ensure scalability, and evaluate third-party components with strong security rigor.
  • Security & monitoring: build secure, well-tested features aligned with timelines; implement monitoring/logging for data flows; follow OWASP Top 10 practices.
  • Automation & DevOps support: improve CI/CD, automate deployments, maintain infrastructure templates (Terraform), and support configuration across environments.
  • Code quality & collaboration: improve codebase health, increase test coverage, contribute to shared packages, and participate in regular code reviews.
  • Team support: share knowledge, support issue resolution (Jira/Notion), and improve team workflows.
  • Scale mindset: optimize systems handling large datasets (typical org sizes: 2,000–6,000 employees).

We value

  • High performance / results-first: measurable impact over activity.
  • Entrepreneurial ownership: be the engine, not the passenger.
  • Data-driven decisions + systems thinking: rigorous, scalable processes.
  • Fast execution with integrity: speed and reliability.
  • Continuous improvement: skills, mindset, and outcomes.

You’ll thrive here if you…

  • Prefer short cycles: ship → measure → iterate.
  • Can turn ambiguity into execution (and communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders).
  • Care about outcomes over process theater.
  • Enjoy building systems that scale — integrations, infrastructure, and reliable operations.

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ years of backend development experience with advanced knowledge of PHP + Laravel.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing integration architectures (APIs, data flows, authentication, reliability patterns).
  • Strong skills in Docker, AWS, RESTful APIs, and Git.
  • Strong database skills across SQL/NoSQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
  • Security and performance focus; familiarity with OWASP and best practices for scalable systems.
  • Strong documentation habits and the ability to communicate clearly with clients and internal teams.
  • English: Upper-Intermediate+ for collaboration and documentation.
  • Language bonus:
    • Swedish is a strong plus (conversational/professional level or native).
    • Ukrainian/Russian is a plus for smoother communication with part of the team.
  • AI usage experience: practical experience using AI tools to automate or accelerate engineering/integration workflows (we’ll support and compensate relevant subscriptions).

Join Söderberg & Partners Heartpace AB, a Swedish product company building reliable, high-quality software for the European market. We’re looking for a QA Engineer (Manual + Automation) who enjoys moving fast, taking real ownership, and raising the quality bar through smart testing and scalable automation.

We’re not looking for someone to “run checklists.” We’re looking for someone who can build confidence in releases, ship quickly with integrity, and help us automate QA and workflows using AI.

What we offer

  • Flexibility: work from our modern Stockholm office or fully remote.
  • Career growth: clear development paths, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.

  • Design and maintain test plans, checklists, and test cases in TestRail.
  • Perform manual testing (exploratory, regression, acceptance) with strong attention to risk and impact.
  • Build, extend, and maintain automation from scratch (Playwright preferred), including:
    • stable test architecture
    • meaningful reporting
    • CI-friendly execution
    • reliable, maintainable suites
  • Conduct API testing using Postman (and support API test automation where applicable).
  • Identify, log, and track defects in Jira, with high-quality reproduction steps and clear severity/priority.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage.
  • Improve QA processes across the SDLC: faster feedback loops, fewer flaky tests, better release confidence.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate test design, reduce repetitive work, and improve efficiency (while keeping quality and security intact).

We value

  • High performance / results-first: measurable impact over activity.
  • Entrepreneurial ownership: be the engine, not the passenger.
  • Data-driven decisions + systems thinking: rigor, scalability, and continuous learning.
  • Fast execution with integrity: speed and reliability.
  • Continuous improvement: skills, mindset, and outcomes.

You’ll thrive here if you…

  • Prefer short cycles: ship → measure → iterate.
  • Can turn ambiguity into execution (and help others do the same).
  • Care about outcomes over process theater.
  • Enjoy improving systems, not just following them.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in manual and automation QA for web applications.
  • Strong hands-on automation experience, ideally Playwright (or similar modern framework).
  • Experience setting up automation approaches/frameworks and building maintainable suites.

  • Understanding of client-server architecture.
  • Good web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, HTTP, Ajax, JSON.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear communication.
  • English: Upper-Intermediate+ for collaboration and documentation.
  • Language bonus:
    • Swedish is a strong plus (conversational/professional level or native).
    • Ukrainian/Russian is a plus for smoother communication with part of the team.
  • AI usage experience: practical experience using AI tools to automate or accelerate QA/workflows (we’ll support and compensate relevant subscriptions).

  • Work-life balance: no overtime culture and generous vacation policies.
  • Security matters: we are ISO 27001:2022 certified, meaning we take information security and operational discipline seriously.

What you’ll do

  • Own and evolve our data foundation: design, manage, and optimize PostgreSQL and MongoDB for reliability and performance.
  • Deliver in short cycles: ship → measure → iterate, balancing experimentation with production-grade execution.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes (Airflow or similar), ensuring data quality and observability.
  • Develop and deploy ML models for forecasting, classification, recommendations, and automation use cases.
  • Build practical ML infrastructure: training → evaluation → deployment → monitoring (including inference pipelines).
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to integrate data-driven capabilities into live systems and workflows.

  • Use data and systems thinking to define metrics, identify bottlenecks, and drive improvements.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate analysis, prototyping, documentation, and automation — while keeping quality and security intact.

  • Can turn ambiguity into execution (and translate business questions into data solutions).
  • Care about outcomes over process theater.
  • Enjoy building scalable systems — not just one-off analyses.

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ years in database engineering, data engineering, or machine learning roles (or a strong mix).
  • Deep knowledge of SQL + NoSQL systems: indexing, normalization/denormalization trade-offs, query optimization, and performance tuning.

  • Cloud experience (AWS preferred): S3, RDS, SageMaker (or equivalent).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and document decisions, pipelines, and models.
  • English: Upper-Intermediate+ for collaboration and documentation.
  • Language bonus:
    • Swedish is a strong plus (conversational/professional level or native).
    • Ukrainian/Russian is a plus for smoother communication with part of the team.
  • AI usage experience: practical experience using AI tools to accelerate data/ML workflows (we’ll support and compensate relevant subscriptions).

Nice to have

  • Deep learning experience (TensorFlow / PyTorch).
  • Hands-on MLOps experience (e.g., SageMaker pipelines, model registry, monitoring).
  • Interest in BI, KPI automation, experimentation frameworks, or predictive analytics for SaaS.

  • Troubleshoot issues end-to-end: reproduce, isolate, explain technical flows clearly, and guide users to the right outcome.
  • Collaborate closely with the technical team by escalating well-structured cases (clear steps, context, impact) and following through to resolution.
  • Partner with Product, Delivery, and CSM to ensure consistent customer handling and a high level of satisfaction.
  • Work in short cycles: resolve → measure → improve (macros, templates, FAQs, routing, internal playbooks).
  • Use AI tools to speed up routine work (drafting replies, summarizing tickets, creating help articles, classifying issues) while keeping accuracy, tone, and security intact.
  • Contribute to improving internal support processes and reducing recurring issues through better documentation and automation.

We value

  • High performance / results-first: measurable impact (faster resolution, fewer repeats, happier customers).
  • Entrepreneurial ownership: be the engine, not the passenger.
  • Data-driven decisions + systems thinking: spot patterns and fix root causes, not just symptoms.
  • Fast execution with integrity: speed and reliability.
  • Continuous improvement: skills, mindset, and outcomes.

You’ll thrive here if you…

  • Prefer short cycles: solve → learn → improve.
  • Can turn ambiguity into clear next steps for the customer and the team.
  • Care about outcomes over process theater.
  • Enjoy improving systems: better replies, better workflows, better docs, fewer recurring issues.

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years in a similar support/customer service role in tech or SaaS.

Meritorious

  • Experience working with HR systems.
  • Understanding of HR processes in companies.
  • Additional languages (especially for European customers).
